Picture This ' Dialing up a Little Extra with an iPhone at Opus Hotel

Hold the Phone ' Literally

The Hotel Opus in Vancouver rings into the Purple Goldfish Project at #1,030:

According to a report by USA Today, the Hotel Opus is replacing landlines in each room with an iPhone. Here's an excerpt from the article by Barbara De Lollis:

As hotels try to offer guests technology they'll be able to both understand anduse, one high-tech boutique hotel in Vancouver has come up with a novel approach ' replacing the arguably obsolete wireless hotel phone with an iPhone.

The Opus hotel in Vancouver's trendy Yaletown neighborhood is in the process of making the switch to iPhones, figuring that guests ' especially those from the USA ' will know how to use them and appreciate having a Canadian phone to eliminate international roaming fees on their personal phones.

'Technology is a way of life today, not just a perk, and that holds true even while traveling,' says Nicholas Gandossi, Opus Vancouver's general manager.

Marketing Lagniappe Takeaway: An added convenience for your guests. Free local calls and no roaming as lagniappe. A benefit that is talkable, both literally and figuratively.

Today's Lagniappe (a little something extra for good measure) ' Earlier this year the Opus became the first hotel in Canada to offer an iPad 2 in every room. The device is loaded with useful apps and becomes a Virtual Concierge.
